P.E. Cares

The P.E. teachers are asking for donations of canned or non-perishable food items between Nov. 11 and Nov. 21! We will collect these items for a local food distribution. The class that brings in the most items will win a t-shirt and a special bowling trip with their class and PE teacher! Let us collect as many as we can! 🙂

Great Halloween Party! :)

Thank you to everyone who donated your time and/or items for the Halloween Party! The party was enjoyed by all! 🙂 A shout out to the moms who planned our fun activities and yummy food for our party!  I am hoping everyone had a safe time trick or treating! I am looking forward to seeing all of you next week at conferences! 🙂

Fall Party Reminder

frankensteinParent volunteers have planned our classroom Fall party for October 31.  The party will be held from 2:30-3:25 and everyone is welcome to join.

Please have your child bring their costume to school rather than wear it. They will have a normal academic morning/afternoon and we will prepare for our party during recess time.

Google e-mail and documents

Each student now has a personal student Gmail account that is a part of the Hudsonville Public Schools network.  What does this mean?  It means in the next few weeks your child will have the opportunity to learn about how to use a few of the features that Google offers to do school based activities.  It was explained that this email account was not for personal use, but instead to be used as a tool for school based assignments.Ask your child to open up their Gmail account and show you!

They may access this by:

1. going to Google.com 2. Log in using their log in name at school plus @hpsstudents.net (for example if I was a student, my log in would be kwalenta@hpsstudents.net) 3. Then use their password that they would use to log in at school.

Please let me know if you have any questions.

Coin War Reminder

Hey there Georgetown Families…….

Don’t forget tomorrow, October 29th, is the last day to turn in coins for the All for Books MSU vs. U of M Coin War.  We’ll be weighing the coins at 3:00 PM.  Support your team with your loose change and raise money for new classroom books.
Tomorrow is also the last day to preorder your copy of “Diary of Wimpy Kid 8: Hard Luck”.
Hope to see you at the Book Fair next week.
Thank you for all of your support!

Coin War

The competition is on this year!  Let’s see which Michigan team has the biggest fans at Georgetown prior to their showdown in Lansing on November 2nd, the Saturday before we kick off our Book Fair.

This is the fun part, if MSU fans bring in more coins Mr. Kooiker will wear MSU colors and if U of M fans bring in more coins Mr. Bowen will wear U of M colors on Wednesday, October 30th for Spirit Day!  Which team will it be?  Help us decide with your loose change!

Along with supporting your team your loose change will help us purchase book for classroom libraries.  This helps get more kids reading and those kids reading more.

The All for Books money we collect also helps readers beyond our school and community. Scholastic Book Fairs matches monetary donations with a donation of up to one million books to the Kids In Need Foundation and Kids in Distressed Situations, Inc.

Please send in your donation prior to October 29th.  Baggies and book slips will be sent home the week of October 21st.  We’ll be weighing the coins at 3:00 PM on Tuesday, October 29th to determine the winner!

Please join us on October 30th and wear your favorite team’s apparel.

Your act of kindness helps to bring more knowledge, imagination, and love for reading into the lives of our students.

Thank you!  Mrs. Havens, Chair of Book Fair and Georgetown Staff
