Fall Party:

This year for our Fall Party we are looking forward to having parties in our classrooms, however; this year will be different than in the past.

  • Parents and volunteers will not be able to attend.  (We will miss you!)
  • I will send out an email next Friday, October 16th, asking for snack donations for our party.  Snacks will need to be store-bought and individually packaged and respectful of allergies (no peanuts please).

Like previous years, we will be welcoming your children to wear costumes, if they wish.  One change this year is that children will be able to wear their costumes to school and wear them the whole day.  The intent behind this is to limit children gathering in the restrooms to change, and limit the number of children needing assistance from teachers and staff to get into their costumes.  We invite you to send your children in a costume that includes no weapons or gore, and easily allows your child to participate in regular school routines and procedures.  There will not be any masks other than COVID-19-related face masks allowed. There will not be time given to dress or apply makeup as in years past.

Please consider the questions below when deciding on a costume:

  • Can they take it off themselves to use the bathroom?
  • Can they fit in their seat at their desk?
  • Can they go down the slide or sit in the swings?

We ask that you save bulky, inflatable, or extravagant costumes for home use, and dress in a fun and simple costume for the school day.  Fall or pumpkin t-shirts are a great alternative as well.

We are thrilled at the opportunity to celebrate with your children and look forward to creating another fun and memorable school event for them.

Week of October 5-9, 2020

  • Book It Announcement: Our classroom is participating in the Pizza Hut Book It program again this year.  This program will run from October through March.  Each month your student will bring home a calendar with a reading goal on it.  Every time they reach their goal they can mark it on their calendar.  Return the calendar back to school at the end of the month to receive a coupon for a free personal pan pizza from Pizza Hut.  Happy Reading!!
  • Turkey Trot IMPORTANT Info!

  • Mask Reminder – With increased concern and awareness of COVID-19 in our district and the impact it could have on our school and classroom, we ask that you please review and reinforce proper mask-wearing with your child. I remind students throughout the day multiple times of proper mask usage. It is and remains to be our highest priority to follow guidelines to avoid having students, or myself, needing to quarantine and be away from the classroom.

Please help me and emphasize washing your hands, wearing masks properly, and being careful with others during this time. Thank you!

A Note From the STEAM Studio-

Please note that the STEAM teachers have always used Google Classroom as a learning tool in the STEAM studio.  All assignments that are posted while we are doing face to face learning will always be completed in class and should not be worked on at home.  I tend to post assignments ahead of time to work out any issues and students can ignore the email that a new assignment has been posted.  We use Google Classroom differently than the classroom teachers and it was causing a bit of confusion.  Please reach out to Mrs. Totten (atotten@hpseagles.net) if you have any questions!

THANK YOU

Parents,

This post is in honor of you! I thank you for everything you are doing to support your child during this crazy time. None of us dreamed that you would become your child’s 5th grade teacher! I thought this Pooh quote was very relevant to our current daily lives.

Please know I appreciate all you are doing  and that I dearly miss my daily interactions with your child. Please take a few moments to click on the following link and soak in our appreciation from the Georgetown Staff!  Thank you

Spring Break (Virtual) Adventures – Day 6: Beach Day

Hello, friends!

I don’t know about you, but to me spring break isn’t complete without a little beach time. I’ve planned a little beach day for us, and the best part is that you won’t end up with sand in your shorts. Enjoy!

First, click here to get to the beach.

  • Make the video full screen.
  • Look at the sunny sky, the green trees, and the bright blue water.
  • Close your eyes and imagine the warm sun on your face.
  • Listen to the gentle waves and just relax.

Once you feel relaxed and ready, grab your scuba gear.

  • Click here to go for a dive and see some of the amazing creatures that live in these waters.

After your diving adventure, you’re probably ready for some rest and refreshment!
