M-Step Testing Information

Next week we will begin an intensive period of on-line testing — M-STEP, our state assessment.   To find out more about the test, please read this letter issued by the State Superintendent of Schools, Mike Flanagan:  M-STEP Parent Letter

Our fifth graders will take the tests over a 2-3 week period of time beginning Tuesday, April 14.

Our Fifth Grade testing schedule is roughly outlined below.  It is critical that your child attend full day, everyday during the testing.   Once a student has started the test, they cannot stop until completed.  If the students stops midway through the test without completing it, all unanswered questions are wrong.

Please check your family calendar for any appointments that might impact the testing schedule on 4/14, 4/15, 4/16, 4/17, 4/21, 4/23 and 4/24.  Please change these so that your child’s testing is not interrupted.  Again, once a student starts the testing session, the session must be finished.

  • Mrs. Walenta, Mrs. Gort, Mrs. Ball will take the test every morning from 9-12

M-STEP Test Information

Parents,

The MEAP has now changed it’s name to “M-STEP.”    This annual state assessment will now be given in the spring and will be all on-line for grades 3,4,5.

5th grade will start testing the week we return from Spring Break. The 5th grade testing window (April 13-30)

Students in grades 3,4,5 will all be assessed in ELA and Mathematics.  Students in 5th grade will also be assessed in Social Studies. This new computer-based assessment will include computer adaptive sessions, classroom activities, and performance tasks.

To prepare students for this new testing environment, teachers  have been working to provide students with additional online assessment readiness lessons.

If you are interested in providing your child with more practice at home,  additional online resources for student home access  are posted on our district website.

Thank you,

Mrs. Reagan
